Our NTEU Bargaining team of Jamie O’Shea (President), Catherine Lees (Branch Committee), Gabe Gooding (Branch Committee), Tom Stewart (Vice President – GS) and Peter Stokes (Industrial Officer) are
currently in negotiations for new union collective agreements.
Our current union collective agreements for academic and general
staff expire on the 31 December 2009. We continue to negotiate for
improvements to salary, workloads and job security. Some of the key
elements in our claim include:
• 7% salary increase per annum
• That there will be no net job losses during the life of the agreement
• Improvements to academic workloads, including that
academic staff will be allocated workloads in accordance with the following:
* Teaching – 40%
* Research and scholarship – 40%
* Other activities – 20%
and, an academic staff member will not be expected to teach in more than 2 semesters per year
• The inclusion of academic study leave in the agreement
• The inclusion of offshore work terms and conditions for
academic and general staff
• The inclusion of misconduct and unsatisfactory performance
procedures in the agreement for general staff
• An increase in the casual loading to 25%
