National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) members at the University of Melbourne impose bans on results from today.
These bans follow University management’s suspension of collective bargaining negotiations.
Negotiations have dragged out for almost a year, with no agreement from the University on claims for the restoration of pre-Howard era rights and conditions, limits on increasing workloads, payment for all work done by casuals, and a fair pay outcome over three years.
These bans are in place indefinitely and will mean students at the University of Melbourne will not receive their marks until the University commits to returning to the bargaining table with a proper time-line for negotiations and agreement to overturn the Howard Government HEWWR restrictions.
Staff will hold a four-hour stoppage June 15th from 1pm.
The branch is holding it’s own ‘Festival of good ideas’ to coincide with the University’s launch of their ‘Festival of Ideas’ where academics and NTEU members will be assembling to discuss the importance of job security, limitations on workloads and respect of staff when making decisions about their future.
